Could someone recoments some component speakers to go in the front of a
Mk1 Octavia, with no cutting of the doors and pref the crossovers built
into the speakers ? Say less than £100. I

I just want something to improve the standard speakers, not blow the
windows out. HU is an Alpine CDA-9853R, no amp or sub.

TIA

Thats not easy , as they are standard 17cm speakers , but with a very
shallow aperture so most things dont fit.

I have some kenwoods for sale that I took out of my Octy , but they aren't
particularly bassy (though very nice sounding) so they may not be ideal if
you have no plans for a sub.

Asking on www.briskoda.net should find you some suggestions of current
models that work

Which ones ?

I've bought some Pioneer Components that the Pioneer web site reckons
will fit the front, and some coaxl Pioneers for the rear.

May end up getting a sub or some 6x9's in a stealth shelf depending on
how it all sounds. Not keen on subs though.

Its a shame the standard ICE in the Octavia is so poor. Once you'd
changed the HU in a Leon it sounded pretty good, lots of bass as well.

The boot on the octy is vast.
Plenty of room without it getting in the way

Yep , it's awful - both speakers and HU are dire.
I lasted about 2 weeks before I ripped the lot out.
On the Octy MkII it's vastly better. Obviously not as good as a proper
aftermarket setup but for factory fit I'm very pleased with it

Ohh, where did you hide the crossovers ?

Granted yes, subs just seem a bit 'Gary' to me for some reason though!

Under the dash by the glovebox and ran 2 new sets of cables into the door
through the existing rubber pipe thingy

Driving down the high street time after time at night with them blasting
certainly is.

I needed to do a bit of research into what I wanted , then wait for
delivery.

Which version of Octavia did you get?

Ahh right. I was a bit reluctant to get seperate crossovers cos of the
hassle of hiding them somewhere and faffing about with the cables. I'm
not really after something stella, just better than whats in there are
the mo.

Well yes! Don't A4's have a small sub located in the side of the boot
? Something like that would be ideal really.

Good idea thinking about it. Oh well, I'll see how I get one with what
I've ordered and take it from there.

VRS in black magic. Very nice indeed!
