Two sources into one amp?

I have a Kenwood car stereo connected up to two Sony Amps via RCA
connections.

I have an HP iPaq I use for navigation, I would like to connect this to one
of the amps (Front speakers) as well as the stereo.

Is this possible, and if so, what do I need!
(There is a volume control on the iPaq, and I do also have a high level
input on the amp - should I try using this for the iPaq?

No it's not. You'd need to switch the amp input signals, to prevent
the output stage on one unit "seeing" the other. As the iPaq almost
certainly doesn't have a mute on guidance it's unlikely that this will
be a practical solution, unless you intend not to listen to the head
unit whilst you're using the navigation.

Well, I tried connecting the iPAQ to the high level input of the amp, and it
works just fine :-)

No, the music is not muted while the navigation instructions are being
played, but that is not a problem (I just turn the iPAQ up a bit) - It would
annoy me more if it did mute the radio to be honest (My mates car does this,
and it ia bloody annoying if you are trying to listen to any traffic
reports!)

Hi there,
I am interested in this too. If I understand correctly you have you
stereo plugged into you low frequency input (phono connectors) and
then simply connect the ipaq to the high level inputs and away it
goes?

Do you get any distortion or clicking noises as it cuts in or out? My
last amp (a cheapo Jetsound one) was terrible for this. Im
considering getting a new JBL 75.4 (cos the cheapo one went pop) and
was considering if this was / is an option. Sounds like it is.

What amp have you got?

My other concern is my phone car kit and amp...Probably subject of
another thread.
