Fitted a new Amp - it's cutting out

Hi,

Just finished fitting a new Toxic TX1000 amp - it worked fine while I
was testing it in the garage. With the engine running or when starting
the car the amp shuts down (in protect mode). I've checked for shorts
carefully and can only judge that it's not overheating. The power is
taken directly from the Battery and it has a solid ground.
The car is a Clio. Could the battery or alternator be causing a problem?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a bad alternator regulator if it only happens whilst car is
running.

Check again while car is not running.
Check battery voltage whilst car is running.

If still does not work correctly when engine not running then:
First thing to try is disconnect the speakers from the amp!
Then try reattaching one speaker at a time.
Also check the speaker wiring to the amp carefully , especially if it is in
bridged mode.

You could have a dodgy speaker.

I am currently repairing a Kenwood sub which measures the correct resistance
static,
but trips out any amp as soon as used.
The voice coil was badly burned ( I am recoiling it! ).
