Vauxhall Astra Replacement Aerial

Hi,

I've got a Vauxhall Astra 'R' plate, (older shape)
Due to the cunning location of the radio aerial (passenger side rear wing) a
passing low branch on a narrow country lane has neatly removed it... :-(

Question is, when I replace it, am I better to get a new telescopic one
(like the old one), one of those little short rubber twangy ones, or there
somthing else? I don't want to spend a fortune, 20ish quid seems like
enough. But I want somthing that'll give me good reception.

If it makes any difference (can't see why it would but never mind), the head
unit I currently have is a Kenwood KDC-3031

If you're prepared to drill the roof, then an amplified "beesting"
type may be worth considering, and should give comparable performance
to the original. Steer clear of the older style rubber mast, as they
tend to be hopeless.

If you intend replacing the original 'Telescopic' type then buy a
replacement from a Vauxhall dealer. I tried one from Halfords a year or so
ago and it was basically a piece of junk, the radio reception was worse than
with the broken one it replaced. A replacement from a dealer should cost
around £22.00 and give great reception. Also bear in mind that they are a
'pig' to fit as the plastic lining on the inside of the boot needs to be
removed to get at the mounting that secures the base of the aerial to the
car.
