I use a Mecedes Atego 815 for work and spend upwards of 100 hours a
week in the cab, the factory fitted unit is very basic. I have bought
a head unit from Maplins, not I expect a very good one but it has a CD
player which also plays mp3 and WMA, and it is blutooth enabled so I
can use it as a hands free for my phone. I have no clue at all how to
fit it, don't know even what colour wires go to the speakers etc. MB's
website has no info at all, and the main dealer could not even provide
a diagram or converter plug/socket. The system on the truck is also 24
volt. can anyone give me any pointers.

Most truck H/U's are 24v, although on some trucks there is a 12v supply
available from one of the batteries. Daf's certainly do, but I dont know
about Mercs.

You need an auto electrician to check the radio harness (which is almost
certainly already present) for a 12v switched and 12v constant feed before
you go anywhere near it with your H/U.
