Hi I have a 2001 mk5 polo, I have just repleced the factory gamma headunit
And are finding the OE speakers a little lacking in quality

the car has a componet setup as standard, which have 4x mid base speakers
and two tweeters
at the front, I have read that it will take 17cm speakers in the doors

Will these http://www.incarexpress.co.uk/view_product.php?partno=TSH1703
just go stright in with out needing adapters??

Also do I need crossovers with these? I really want the least hassle and
wish
to use the factory fit cabling and idealy the crossovers I have if any.

just need a little help really

To be honest, although VW speakers are far from amazing, they're also
not especially bad - so trying to upgrade with something of that
nature will probably prove to be a bad move. I'd really say you need
to be spending approaching twice that figure to get a decent
improvement.

Ok then Jon what do you reccomend maybe Infinity 6010cs ?

all though I see these have outboard crossovers so i guess I have
to start chopping up the factory wiring.

Probably as good an option as any - one thing I would check though is
the available tweeter clearance behind the front pillar, as our info
here suggests it's a bit limited.

The same really applies with any decent components - the original
speakers normally only have a 1st order high pass on the back of the
tweeter itself which you'll remove when you uninstall the original
tweeter.

Assuming it's like the Fabia which is the same platform car , then they will
take 17cm speakers but you'll almost certainly have to make some spacer
rings to get them to fit in place and not foul the windows.
