From Aldi next week:

http://uk.aldi.com/special_buys/product_251.html

it seems to have MP3, ID3 and RDS.

Any good considering the price? If not what would be better for the price
that has similar features?

TIA

I can tell you its in a Benz Avantgarde and Aldi stuff generally does
what it says on the tin..with or without style but functional.

At that price you could throw it away if it is really poor or pass it on
via ebay.

Not sure its claim of increasing volume is a good one unless you had
spare speaker performance already?

In fairness, it does actually looks better than the awful designs most
of the big brands are putting out...

I bought the last model that Aldi had for sale about months ago. My
experience has not been good.

Two major complaints:

- the volume buttons are screwed. so when I try to turn it up, the
volume goes down.

- the random function is not in anyway random when playing mp3 cds.
you hit the random button, the player jumps to track 14, then to 27,
then something else. Same sequence every time!!

Apart from that it's a bit placcy and it's pretty temperamental reading cds.

Plus points:

- it was 50 quid
- Aldi is walking distance from my house ;)

Also, bear in mind that this model looks new. The volume control has
changed and the description lists some new features.

So I took my old one into Aldi at the weekend and told them volume
button was faulty. They exchanged it for one of the new ones for me. No
questions asked. They didn't even look inside the box I'd brought it
back in.

The new one is much better. Volume control is better, radio reception is
better, as is auto-tuning, random play has been sorted too. Much happier
now.

Well
1) cheeky! lol
2) well done Aldi, let's hope they get more sales that way either
intentionally or not

I bought one!

They work very well sound quality is excellent considering price. Much, much
better sounding than the original, 10 year old, Rover badged unit that it
replaces! But then it should.

The RDS works fine, MP3 CDs seem to play fine, Audio CDs play fine.

I have only one real gripe and thats the display. The lower half has a
totally useless graphic frequency diaplay that just isn't necessary and the
upper half has the track info, station name, ID3 etc. diaply. The trouble is
from my seat I can see the lower half of the display and not the upper. I
have to stoop down (impossible when driving!) to check what tack I'm on or
to find a certain song. This makes navigating an MP3 CD very difficult... it
looks like I'll either have to get a passenger to do it or stop the car.
This would have been fine if they put the useless part of the display at the
top and the useful part at the bottom. Oh well.

But for £50? Worth it, I'd say!
